Following the overwhelming success of the pilot for 6°, the next phase focuses on the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, with a 9-month arts programme starting in February called <relay>.  This campaign will be produced once again by Urbanflo Creative Consultancy in partnership with a range of cultural agencies including; Brighton Photo Fringe, Crawley Borough Council, Crawley Black History Foundation, Jonzi-D Projects, State of Emergency, Audio Active, BandBazi, Brighton & Hove Black History, Legacy Film Festival, and the Government of Barbados Commission for Pan-African Affairs.

The <relay> series has been developed as a response to the upcoming residency of the Barbados Olympic team in Crawley prior to the Olympics. It will feature a parallel creative programme that will take place at different international sites - transmitted to and from each location.  <relay> is designed to dynamically engage communities from the host and visiting countries in a range of exciting events to celebrate heritage, culture and to promote intercultural exchange.  The satellite participatory events will bring together international creative collaborators and audiences in a dazzling mixture of live and cyberspace activities, alongside a series of creative workshops, screenings, exhibitions, publications and performances.

<relay> will also facilitate a number of opportunities for professional development for artists, as well as the chance to perform, publish, or exhibit their creative work in an international arena.  To promote access and inclusion to those not able to visit the UK, an online platform will be made available to enable virtual participation.
