Artist Development Case Study
Christina Peake MA

Christina was a recent graduate when she approached urbanflo for advice on how to develop the seeds of an idea she had for a unique visual art installation.  Over an 18-month period, Christina was guided through both the practical and creative aspects of curating the exhibition, and given a sound insight into all the technical and project management issues of mounting a public installation.  urbanflo were able to negotiate with Brighton’s flagship Jubilee Library as the ideal venue on Christina’s behalf, and also signposted her to community artists Same Sky to assist her with producing the high quality craftwork she needed for the centrepiece.  The substantial training and support Christina received enabled her to successfully launch her first major exhibition - Bridgetown to Brighton.  Located in a premier site with a high volume of visitors, the exhibition had an overwhelming response and also generated a series of related workshops and events that were heavily over-subscribed. The development process for the project was a hugely empowering learning curve for Christina; boosting her confidence, skills, networks, experience and her creative practice.
